  17. Many thanks to those who responded to my previous query. I have now sorted
  18. out the linkage of virtex to tex etc and that end is working fine.
  19.  
  20. However my other problem remains unresolved. To re-cap:

  22. system: sun sparc 4m, SunOS 5.3 Generic, OpenWindows 3.3
  23. successful installation of sun4m_53 executables from ftp.shsu.edu:/tex-archive
  24. successful installation of standard lib files
  25.  
  26. problem: trying to install xdvik-18b from same source, .tar file unpacked
  27.     from /usr/local/lib. Running 'make' crashes with the following
  28.     message:

  30. ./squeeze ./../xdvik/psheader.txt psheader.c
  31. ld.so.1: ./squeeze: fatal: libucb.so.1: can't open file: errno=2
  32. *** Signal 9
  33. make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `psheader.c'

  39. It's been suggested that I avoid libucb at all costs, but I'm not sure
  40. how to get 'configure' or 'make' or whatever to avoid this. The file
  41. psheader.txt certainly exists in the specified directory, with full
  42. read permissions.

  44. Can someone please help with this?
